Lecturers receive training on LMS for online teaching and learning
The KNUST E-Learning Center (KEC) organized a 2-day training for members of the staff in the College from the 8th to 9th January, 2025 at the College of Science Computer Lab. The training which was exclusive to KNUST teaching staff focused on providing an in-person training on the topics: New LMS Interface and Item Writing for Online Exams.
Prof. Eric Appau Asante in a virtual introductory video welcomed all participants and introduced the purpose of the training. He noted among other things the need for members of teaching staff to reposition themselves to provide instructional delivery via online systems.
Members of Staff were taken through the latest version of Virtual Class Content Management System (CMS), best practices in LMS content management, and also a hands-on practical session to navigate the new interface of the LMS, create and upload course outline and questions and managing course work on the platform.
Facilitating the training workshop, staff of the E-Learning Center provided step by step lessons on the topics to ensure participants are fully ready for the academic work online. Top University Management visited the training centers to show support in this agenda to provide the best teaching and learning strategies in the University.
For the College, this was part of the efforts to gear up for the start of a new academic year, since the Faculty, and for the matter the Department is preparing to receive newly admitted students into various programmes. Members of teaching staff are therefore poised to provide learning support via online platforms throughout the academic year. Hence, the department preparations range from organizing fresher's orientation, curriculum revision, facility tours, registration support among others.
