Building the Future of Animation in Ghana

The 24FPS Animation Club and the Department of Communication, has officially launched with an engaging event themed “Building the Future of Animation in Ghana,” bringing together students, creatives, and industry professionals to explore the growing opportunities within Ghana’s animation industry.

ImageThe launch served as a platform to introduce the vision and mission of 24FPS while creating meaningful conversations around the development of animation and digital creativity in Ghana. Representing the department was Mr. Kwabena Kusi-Appouh and Dr. Benjamin Prempeh, Lecturers under the Multimedia Unit; and teaching assistants for the 2026 academic year. The programme featured discussions on the current state of the animation industry, emerging opportunities for young creatives, artificial intelligence, production, and the role of animation producers.

ImageA key highlight of the event was an industry professional interaction, where established digital artist and animator, Alumnus Kwabena Agyei-Agyemang shared his experiences, challenges, production workflows, and practical advice with aspiring animators. The session also provided participants with an opportunity to engage directly with industry leaders through an interactive Q&A.

ImageAnother major highlight was “My Annecy Experience”, presented by Alumnus Kofi Badu Eshun which offered participants insight into the Annecy International Animation Festival, including its industry ecosystem, accreditation, pitching opportunities, networking, and lessons that can be applied to Ghana’s animation community.

Beyond the main sessions, participants took part in student project showcases, live technical demonstrations, animation trivia, speed portfolio reviews, and collaborative workshops, providing opportunities for learning, networking, mentorship, and creative exchange.

The launch concluded with the unveiling of the 24FPS annual roadmap, including plans for technical meetups, practical masterclasses, mentorship initiatives, talent competitions, and studio showcases. Membership onboarding was also opened as the club begins building a stronger community for emerging animation talent.

The successful launch marks an important step toward creating a connected community of young animators and creatives committed to learning, collaboration, and contributing to the growth of Ghana’s animation industry.
