ImageTimothy Aguya Akasiya, an MPhil Communication Design candidate in the Department of Communication Design at KNUST, is the founder and lead developer of Rootabytes Enterprise, a Ghanaian technology company building AI-powered tools for African education. Guided by the philosophy "Rooted in Culture. Powered by Technology," Rootabytes designs digital products that honour African heritage while applying cutting-edge artificial intelligence.

The company's work centres on two flagship products. Classpiler is an AI teaching assistant for lesson planning, assessment, and learner-diagnostics. The web app is built for Ghanaian teachers, with content aligned to the Ghana Education Service's NaCCA standards-based curriculum and Common Core Programme. Designed for real classroom conditions, it helps teachers plan lessons, generate assessments, and pinpoint where individual learners are struggling.

imageThe Learner Visibility Platform (LVP) addresses one of Ghana's most pressing education challenges; out-of-school children. LVP helps districts identify and track children who are not in school so that each one can be reached and re-enrolled. The platform earned Rootabytes the UNICEF StartUp Challenge 3 award in January 2026 and is currently being piloted in the Bosomtwe District.
